Why this fixes the part everyone gets wrong.
The weakest link in maintenance records is not the software. It is the half hour between doing the work and writing it up, during which the detail quietly disappears.
Scanning removes the gap. The record is made at the machine, against the right machine, while the technician is still looking at it. The photograph is of the actual fault rather than a description of it from memory.
It also removes the commonest error in maintenance history: work written against the wrong pump because two of them look alike and sit side by side.
