OPC UA client, in a browser
Inspect the source before the next step.
Browse OPC UA nodes, inspect readings, and understand the address space in a browser. Use that source knowledge in the asset mapping.
What it is for
| Question | Answered in |
|---|---|
| Is the server up and answering? | Seconds |
| Is my certificate trusted? | A minute |
| Does this node exist and what is it called? | A minute |
| Is this sensor alive or stuck? | Watch it for a minute |
§ 01
What it does.
- 01See what the server actually offers
Walk the tree of what is published and open it as you go, instead of working from a documentation file that stopped being accurate three revisions ago.
- 02Read anything, write where allowed
Read any value live. Write to the ones that permit it, with an editor that knows the type and shows you exactly what the server said back.
- 03Watch a value change
Subscribe to a tag at whatever interval you choose and watch it move on a small chart. This is how you find out whether a sensor is alive in about ten seconds.
- 04Certificates, without the afternoon
Generate, import, and trust certificates, and work in any of the security modes. This is the step that eats commissioning days, so it is built to be quick.
§ 02
Why a browser version exists at all.
There is a perfectly good desktop client, and for sustained work it is the better tool. But the moment you most need a client is standing in a plant room with a machine that will not connect, on a laptop where installing software takes a change request.
So this one asks nothing of the laptop. It is deliberately small: enough to answer the four questions above and no more.
Use it the next time a server will not answer.
It costs nothing to have open in a tab, and it turns the usual half-day of guessing into a question with an answer.
